The Tao of Sadge

Sagittarius Full Moon - May 31, 2026

Today’s Full Moon occurred at 2:45 AM Mountain time and arose at 9 degrees 55 minutes in the sign of Sagittarius.  The second Full Moon of this month, this moon is designated a “Blue Moon” for no other reason than it is relatively rare to have two Full Moons in one month.

Unlike the rather brutal Scorpio Full Moon at the beginning of the month which seemed to unleash a tsunami of unresolved karma and deep inner questioning around worthiness, betrayal and a whole host of other fears, this Full Moon brings some much needed Sagittarius optimism and expansiveness.

Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign – meaning Sadge runs on inspiration, is intellectually nimble and emotionally flexible.  Sadge’s humour is famous as is his directness and all of this is expressed in the symbol for Sagittarius, which, interestingly is very akin to that of the Fire Horse energy which entered into our collective consciousness in February of this year.  Sagittarius’ astrological symbol is a centaur – lower half horse and upper half man.  He is depicted in the act of drawing back his bow to shoot an arrow which is aimed upward into the stratosphere.

Sagittarians are indeed known for galloping around a great deal – always busy and always on the run.  Like a wild horse, they must have freedom to explore, to satisfy their curiosity about what mysteries and potential adventures lie around the next corner, in the next country or indeed in the next galaxy.  Sagittarius in fact is the sign in which contains the centre of our galaxy – the Galactic Centre lies at 27 degrees of Sagittarius.  And because of their consuming desire to know, they are very difficult to pin down – they hate to commit because it means they might miss out.  Thus they are known as the “bachelors and bachelorettes of the Zodiac” – if you’ve ever dated one, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

You might find them in University classrooms, on airplanes travelling to far off lands or for some, their desire to know eventually leads them to know deeper, broader, more expansive truths.  They are drawn to wisdom teachings, to philosophy or to spirituality and once on that path, they can become devotees, seeking spiritual teachers and teachings or when dipping into the darker side of Sagittarius can become dogmatic, cultish and certain that their version of the truth is the ultimate truth.

Now, Ultimate Truth belongs in the sign of Pisces where it cannot be possessed by anyone, but is something unknowable, mysterious.  Although the Ultimate Truth can only be experienced directly and is not at all a linear intellectual pursuit, Sagittarius helps us upon that path of knowing by building a belief system – a kind of scaffolding for taking us to heights of understanding that are beyond the mind.

Sagittarius works in tandem with its opposite sign Gemini.  Gemini gathers, compiles and analyzes information – Sagittarius adds it all up and, shooting its arrow upward, it affords a higher perspective that allows the pattern created by all that information to take shape before our very eyes.  Gemini is journalistic – it reports information and Sagittarius puts it all together and tells us what it means.

Gemini communicates, Sagittarius communes - with higher principles, ideals, spiritual laws of the Universe.  It taps into its abundant intuitive knowing and suddenly we are transported higher – our understanding of the bigger picture is expanded.

At this Full Moon we may suddenly have an aha moment that adds it all up and shows us what it was all about all along.  This sudden understanding and access to meaning may connect experiences and relationships that extend back through lifetimes of karma.  Gemini represents all of the many experiences and exchanges and what we have made of them with respect to certain themes we have agreed to learn in our time on the planet – most of these adding up to an increasing awareness of who we truly are.  We learn through romantic relationships, family relationships, our work life, our creative life.  And all this information creates our mindset, informs our thinking and way of communicating.  And then along comes a Sagittarius Full Moon.  There you are, just a’walkin down the street and suddenly the dots connect, you get it, you know what it means, it all makes sense and you are magically moved forward into a larger realm of understanding.

Its as if you have been blessed by grace, touched by angels and guides in a way you could never have predicted and suddenly your beliefs are expanded by your lived experience plus that extra Sagittarius magic that elevates it all to the extraordinary realm of wisdom.

Depending on where this Full Moon is falling in your chart – this is one of those turning points in your life.  Saturn, now at 10 degrees of Aries, is in a positive major aspect to this moon so you can be sure that this new wisdom will be grounded into the foundation of your identity and expressed through the authentic expression of your true self.  Saturn creates limits around the expansion so that it doesn’t just remain in the starry realms of a profound spiritual experience but is brought to earth and becomes part of your internal structure.

Another profound and beautiful connection here is the Moon’s proximity to Pluto at 60 degrees - called a sextile.  Pluto represents the Soul and right now it is retrograde in the sign of Aquarius.  Aquarius represents what Carl Jung called ‘individuation’. It means who we are beyond how we have been conditioned by our family, by our culture.  This is about shedding that conditioning and stepping forward lighter, at a higher frequency and not weighed down by former false personas.  We only took them on as protection in the first place.  But, if anything Sagittarius hates pretense, it is rigorously truthful and Pluto will have its way transforming anything that is holding us back from full self-realization.

We are given this great gift at a time when Chiron is in its final healing points in Aries and just about to enter the sign of Taurus where all remaining wounding around fear of lack, whether not Being enough or not Having enough. will be on the table.  This month we not only have Chiron changing signs after 8 years in Aries, but also Solstice on June 21, Jupiter moving out of Cancer and into Leo on June 30th and in July the North and South Nodes will move from 18 months in Pisces and Virgo and into the next 18 months in Aquarius and Leo.  More to come on these big changes.
